Project: Painting with
Architecture in Mind

We designed this collection of critical writing to be easily usable by its intended audience of students and academics: allowing generous margins for note taking; clear, unfussy type; and conveniently located footnotes.

The images inside are allowed to speak for themselves, and this approach is carried across to the cover: Rudolf Stingel's exquisite carpet at the Neue Nationalgalerie wraps around the whole cover, unobscured by the book's title, which is almost invisible until held in the right light.

We also worked with Brad Lochore to best accommodate his specially produced centre-spread, so that the fold of a triple-width page forms the corner of two walls on which his Lamp casts shadows.
